The Collective Reading for November:

The flower cards I pulled for the collective for November are Gorse and Golden Yarrow, along with The Sun, supported by 6 of Swords, and 8 of Pentacles Tarot cards.

My eye was immediately drawn to all the yellow in these cards. Gorse and Golden Yarrow perfectly complement The Sun card - warming, revitalizing, solar energy that lifts spirits and infuses dark corners of the soul with an uplifting light (and sense of lightness of spirit).

6 of Swords is the card of unchartered waters - of moving forward with faith and self-trust even if we aren’t quite sure where we’re going to end up. 8 of Pentacles appears as a heartening reminder of all the hard work we’ve done, the groundwork we’ve laid that we should appreciate, honor, and trust. Our work is not done, and we might not know what’s up ahead, but The Sun is on the other side. Clarity, solar warmth, truth being revealed. It might feel like a confusing time, but the message is to Keep Going.

These cards tell a story of maintaining hope, playing a long game, and getting invested in the work of enjoying life while we fight for change, on the micro and macro levels.

Let’s get into the symbolic meanings of these flower cards.

Golden Yarrow is well-known and beloved by herbalists and plant people as the plant of Boundaries. A golden protective bubble that helps us keep the noise and stress out, and preserves our own containment and inner composure.

Gorse is another sunny-yellow flower that is all about becoming light-hearted, bringing lightness to the heavy heart. To me, it’s like the shaft of golden sunlight that comes through the window of the attic. These two in tandem give a really sweet message of unburdening the heart and nurturing ourselves in the face of external strife or noise.

On a practical note, Golden Yarrow might be a good herb or flower essence to work with this month in order to have a little padding between the ratcheting-up rhetoric swirling around us and swirling in our nervous systems. The narrative that lives in our bodies from what happened 8 years ago, anybody? Spray a Golden Yarrow Hydrosol or flower essence around you. Drop Gorse flower essence in your water as a symbol of your commitment to moving through the tunnel and looking for - working towards - the Sun.

Allow me to wax poetic here. These two flowers create an energetic picture of going inward, of creating a safe cozy space within yourself where you can be nourished by your own vitality and the pleasure of being an alive human. From there, take heart, and keep moving towards a brighter day. We will keep working hard. We will keep wondering where we’re going, questioning if we’re on a path that moves forward. But we will keep going because Joy is the purest form of human expression.

Feeling the sun on one’s skin is one of the best ways to stay here, to stay present, to not dissociate and evacuate from what is happening right now. To be here now. There’s light at the end of the long, long tunnel.

It feels really hilarious and intense and wrong but maybe just right to be putting this out a few days before the election in the “United States of America.” I have to see what arises and respond anew. New ways forward, new modes of action, a new day with new contextual challenges - from within the stability of my selfhood. How will you stay human this month? How will you protect your vitality, your sovereignty, and all of your gifts so that you can stay genuinely hopeful, and take action? You are an unstoppable Sun-like force, and you have plenty of life force within you to share. It’s gonna feel good to shine!

A lot of us will be cocreating with the Six of Swords energy of the unknown path, the long journey towards something better and brighter and closer to what feels like truth. The flowers and the tarot archetypes are, for me powerful symbols of different types of energy that help remind me of a different way of being. I don’t always have it all within me on a hard or numbed-out day - and so I can look to Golden Yarrow and say ah, yes - please help me out, please remind me of other ways of being. I can look to the Sun card and say, ah yes, the Truth always feels good and right and without urgency. The sun will eventually illuminate the way for me, even if it rains for the next week straight. And maybe these potent symbols can do the same for you in this time that feels a little groundless. And with that, let’s get to your sign by sign readings for November.

Flowerscopes for November by Sign

Hot tip: Read the flower for your rising sign, your big three, or any sign that is really lit up for you right now. These ‘scopes were created using the Flower Essence Society flower deck and the Thoth Tarot deck.

Aries: Star Tulip 🌟 2 of Pentacles

You’ve been building momentum - now you’re entering a phase of turning that momentum and progress into a sustainable structure that bears weight. Into something built to last because it is aligned with your spirit. Make sure to be truthful with yourself as you continue to tinker with the project of your life and to take your true nature into account without judgment. Ask yourself - Am I saying “Yes” because I wish I was the kind of person who would want to say Yes? Or is it truly a Yes? Will my spirit truly be fed in the long term? Will I really want to be doing that in a few months, in a year, in three? Your feelings might feel like they change daily, and evidence for contrary ways forward can be found anywhere you look. You can get thrashed around by that see-sawing sense of what to do, but trusting and listening to yourself at every turn will help you navigate through.

Taurus: Madia 🌼 Death

Madia is the flower of focus, of concentrating on what matters to you most. The Death card brings endings and closures. There is a powerful opportunity for the clarity that arises from spaciousness; a paring away that can allow you to go deeper into true purpose, once the fluff is removed. It’s a month for the bare essentials. Focus on the work in front of you, let the most important and intrinsic parts of your life rise to the top, and by the end of the month, anything that is not important (or inherent to you) will be stripped away. What’s left on your plate is meaningful and deep, and now has more space to be cultivated. It’s not the time to juggle five projects, cling to relationships that are hanging by threads, or launch something brand new if it’s not quite ready yet. Creating space (saying no, ending a contract, paring down your calendar) is a joyful act because then there’s more room for what matters.

Gemini: Almond ⚔️ 2 of Swords

You’ve been a buzzy bee - now is your time to think about what makes you thrive. A quiet month of reflection may or may not be music to your ears, but November is an opportune time to take a beat and nourish yourself. Two of Swords always pops up when it’s the right time to take a time out; and often, it doesn’t feel like a good time to do that but the card asks us to trust that it’s possible. Press pause of decisions that feel really time-sensitive, but actually aren’t. Almond wants to teach us about truly thriving - nourishing foods, moving the body, getting rest.

Cancer: Pink Yarrow 🌸 Knight of Wands

Protect your heart, precious Cancer. There’s been a real theme in these last few months for you. Of authenticity being a source of deeper joy in daily life. Knight of Wands tells us to move however we want to move through our lives - with flair, with honor for our unique rhythms and energy levels. Pink Yarrow is the flower of heart boundaries, of loving fiercely without self sacrifice; we can be there for someone without feeling their feelings and we can be there for ourselves first without letting people down. How will you authentically spread the love in your life?

Leo: Rosemary 🌿 3 of Cups

This duo feels like the coziest dinner party, where everyone leaves feeling fed, happy, and heard rather than drained and worn out. You might feel warm, convivial, open to connection this month - and Rosemary says, contrary to what some of us have been taught, that will come from feeling rooted in yourself. Boundaries will offer a deeper sense of closeness, and you may be surprised by how you do relationships now and can try new things from that rooted and confident place. Whether working on group projects, joining a new group, bringing people together, or hosting a large house party - being a connector of people, and fostering deeper connections is on your social calendar, which can be as bustling as you want it to be. Experiment away in groups big and small!

Virgo: Lavender 🛞 Wheel of Fortune

If you’re coming into this month feeling like you don’t know what’s down and what’s up anymore, Lavender wants to give you a hug. Your nervous system may want a little extra love this month. And if it feels like there’s no right answer to some current quandaries, it’s because there’s not one yet. How can you focus on containment? On feeling cozy and rooted within your body, within your judgement, within your home and inner circle? Just hang tight, keep trusted confidantes close, go with the flow, and push things forward inch by inch until there’s firmer ground from which to navigate from. Get thee to the fireplace and cozy up in a blanket (and yes, light the lavender-scented candle)! There will be plenty of time to rule the world and manage projects (I know that’s probably good news to you), but this month’s project may be just making yourself feel safe, comfortable, and regulated.

Libra: 8 of Wands 🌱 Basil

Batter up, Libra! How will your heart step up to the plate? Life will move quickly this month - whether it’s a new love interest, changing work circumstances, or breakthroughs in longtime relationships that were previously in deadlock. On the other side of surprising conversations, opportunities to advocate for yourself, or nerve-wracking first dates are personal growth and deeper security. The opportunity for you to look back and say Wow, I really did that! Look out for spicy and scintillating moments of self discovery. Scorpio: Dandelion 💗 The Lovers

Scorpio, I know you may like to interact from a polished, public-facing place sometimes (said with nothing but respect). Let yourself be loved in the messy middle! This month offers the opportunity to come face to face with parts of yourself as reflected in another person. It’s a time of play (what’s more vulnerable than play), of delight, of letting yourself be lit up by the joy of connecting with other people - of sharing a deep fear and feeling relieved when someone says, I feel the exact same way. Dandelions always roll deep, as anyone who hasn’t wanted them to take over their garden can attest. Bring that community close, accept favors, cry in public when normally you’d wait until you were alone, and let your neighbor bring you that frozen lasagna if you’re sick or in a transition phase.

Sagittarius: Aspen 🌳 3 of Wands

You deserve a pat on the back, my resilient Sag. There are times when it’s important to look back just to see how far you’ve come, and how many storms you’ve weathered. You may be at a moment where you’ve come a long way. Some kind of achievement, or arriving at a place you used to dream about getting to. It’s a time of big-picture thinking and of review. What is ahead of you, and where do you want to go next? Call on the energy of the deeply-rooted Aspen tree, and know that you’ve come a long way, witnessed a lot of change, and have plenty of internal wisdom to navigate life from. In summary, you’ve F-ing got this.

Capricorn: Mountain Forget-Me-Not 🪙  Ace of Pentacles

This combo has the energy of preparing to scale a mountain - it’s time to gather all your supplies, stock your backpack with energy bars, and resource yourself mentally. It’s a time of gassing yourself up, of getting excited about the possibilities ahead. Sometimes, we get all sorts of encouragement externally - right now is about getting that strength from within. Be your own cheerleader! The accolades will come later, and won’t it be a little fun to say I told you so later on when you’re taking in the view at the summit? But first, make you’re supported and supportive to yourself so you don’t have to run on fumes.

Aquarius: California Wild Rose 🌹 4 of Cups

Are you feeling the call of the wild? How can you be an explorer in your own life? This combo is delicious and delightful, full of the curiosity that is your calling card. It’s a time for exploration, for discovering what lights you up without grasping or planning. Are you feeling pulled in different directions, or like you’re missing out on all the fun? No commitments, just vibes. Say yes, try something new, and really follow the trail of your own excitement and enthusiasm. No need to choose a thing or to commit to anything or be too serious. Just keep exploring. Some months are about hard work or commitments, and this month is about feeling refreshed and renewed.

Pisces: Hyssop 🪻 6 of Cups

Please don’t be rude to my friend (aka yourself)! Where in life are you being extra tough on little old you? November has the potential to be a time of emotional alchemy, of cleansing and releasing to uncover all the lightness, joy, self-compassion, and sweetness that the 6 of Cups has to offer. Of forgiveness (of self and others) and a release of old resentments (towards self and others). That feeling of true forgiveness can’t be forced or faked - and once it’s real and settled into the body, oh does it feel so good and hard-won. All of this is possible this month with a little self-compassion and emotional bravery!
